Magic is being developed as an international co-production between South Africa and the United Kingdom and in accordance with the existing treaty between both countries.

THE WORLD WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH PRETORIA BY MAKING A FILM THAT SHOWS PRETORIA AS A CITY OF MAGIC, A SOURCE OF TRANSFORMATION, A PLACE OF HOPE.

Magic is scheduled to be mainly shot at the capital city of Pretoria, in South Africa. Additional locations will include Mamelodi, giving the chance to empower the township’s youth and women with training of various film related skills and enjoy paid internships during the production process.

The story of Magic represents unity and empowerment, elements which will stand firm ast the film’s legacy. It will leave behind a city with experience of hosting an international film production, and therefore proof of an ability to service any international production.

Through the making and marketing of the film, people will be exposed to various iconic landmarks in Tshwane, accompanied with additional information related to these landmarks: history, tourism info, placement in the city etc, putting Pretoria on the map of filming in South Africa, in the world. It will be a symbol that inspires and celebrates the involvement of authentic local artists and talent.

Non-profit company RADA’s collaboration focuses on the empowerment of people through education programmes, healing centres and various upliftment projects in township communities. RADA’s collaboration with the motion picture will bring forth great benefits for the community and place them to reinforce their social development program. Apart from the subject of magic, music is an important component of the film, and the film Magic will tribute legends of South African jazz and other vernacular rhythms, such as molombo, on it. RADA owns a music production facility and through the medium of music, spreads the message of empowerment and hope.

South Africa is the birth place of such jazz legends as Philip Tabane, Hugh Mazakela and the unforgettable Miriam Makeba. Magic becomes a tribute to said artists and their music. Together with these melodies, other songs and their performers, that became hits of the 70’s form part of the soundtrack of Magic.

The combination of international American Jazz and local South African Jazz is what gives Magic a great essence. Combining the pop catalogues of
the era where Brian Ferry and ABBA played major roles. The music introduces a time where protests where relevant and Jazz like Soweto Blues brought a sense of harmony.
